San Joaquin Section News
San Joaquin Section had a very exciting 2009–2010 school year. The 2010 State Conference was a great success and I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank all who participated. It was a pleasure working beside such a dedicated and knowledgeable group of professionals as exist in the San Joaquin Section. The San Joaquin Section is excited to continue in providing professional development opportunities aimed at increasing the knowledge and skills of our members.
Currently the San Joaquin Section leadership team is comprised of the following individuals:
- John Christiansen – Treasurer, Ceres Unified School District
- Sergio Mendoza – Secretary, Burton Unified School District
- James Tate – Past President, Clovis Unified School District
- Galen Wright – Scholarship Chairman, Retired from Madera Unified
- Greg Bass, Joe Brucia, Mike Robinson, Dennis Wiechmann – Board Advisors
The San Joaquin Section members are planning to meet monthly commencing September 17th. We all look forward to working with San Joaquin Section members and current CASCWA State President, Benita Washington. We know firsthand how committed and capable she is of making the 2010-2011 school year rewarding for us all. To all my CWA colleagues: keep up the hard work helping our students, families, and communities.

San Joaquin Section Honors Dennis Wiechmann
Many of you know Dennis Wiechmann. Dennis is the past section president and current "President-Elect of the State CASCWA," Dennis has been a member of CASCWA for 5 years and has risen to the top levels of the organization because of his organizational abilities and "can do" attitude. Dennis was born in Fresno and is a young man of 35 years. He served as a school psychologist prior to his current position of Director of Child Welfare and Attendance for Sanger Unified. Previously, Dennis has worked for Central Unified and the Fresno County Office of Education. Dennis is a valued member of the section and has pledged to be a member until retirement and beyond. We just want Dennis to know that at 35 years of age, we look forward to his leadership for many years to come.
