Welcome from State CASCWA
Rickey Jones, President
Welcome to the official website of the California Association of Supervisors of Child Welfare and Attendance.
As the 2011-2012 president of CASCWA, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to CASCWA. Being a member of this organization, you exemplify our roles in supporting and advocating for students in the state of California. Although the current time is fiscally difficult for the state of California, please keep in mind what you do every day is important for our students, parents and schools. So, I would like to take this brief moment to "Thank You" on behalf of the students, parents, schools and all of CASCWA for all that you do for students.
CASCWA is a professional organization dedicated to improving school safety and increasing student attendance while keeping school districts and county offices informed of any changes within the law. CASCWA was formed as an organization 75 years ago. CASCWA is comprised of four sections: Bay, Delta Sierra, San Joaquin Valley and Southern.
Members of the CASCWA state Executive Board are Rickey Jones, Betty Folsom, Grace Espindola, Jerry Hime, Maria de Bravo, Nicole Steward, Jeni Mendel, Sheila Lawrence, Janet McMurray, Dr. Ammar Saheli, Debbie Morris, Sergio Mendoza, Joe Taylor, Sherman Garnett, Jan Passama, Tomangione, Benita Washington, Amreek Sing, David Cohen and Steve Freire. Please feel free to contact either of them for information regarding the organization or if you have a question. This Executive Board is here to support you and to answer any questions you may have.
Given the current fiscal crisis in the state of California, your role as a professional CWA specialist is crucial. We are all often asked to do more with less and our students rely on us to advocate for them and their family. Therefore, CASCWA is committed to breaking down all barriers our students’ face, to ensure their success.
Your CASCWA membership includes an electronic copy of the Intercom. The Intercom is a newsletter published quarterly by the Intercom editor. In order to receive this newsletter, please make sure your email address is updated at all times. In Addition, CASCWA has an online "Ask the Expert" where you can ask any question you may have and expect to receive an answer within 24 hours. At least one of our experts will answer your question and provide appropriate citation. Please note this service is restricted for current members of CASCWA. Therefore, it is very important that you keep your membership up to date at all times.
Please take a moment to get involved by contacting your section president and offering your expertise in advocating for students and families. Again, welcome to CASCWA and I look forward to meeting and seeing you at your section and state conference.
Sincerely,
Rickey Jones,
CASCWA State President
